Krasnodar “Kuban” became the bronze medalist of the 4th round of the Russian rugby 7s championship among women’s teams. The competitions took place in Sochi at the Yug Sport stadium. This allowed Maxim Amonov’s team to move up to third place and overall.
10 teams competed in Sochi, split into 2 five in the group stage. The tournament started for the “Kuban” is not easy. In the opening match, Krasnodar lost to Zilant Kazan with the score of 10:12. Then they dominated their compatriots from Ust-Labinsk “Agrat”, who performed out of competition – 31:12. Then Kuban lost to one of the tournament favorites VVA-Podmoskovye (17:24) and defeated Rostov-DSTU (29:5). Thus, the southerners qualified for the semi-finals from second place.
There, Kuban lost heavily to the country’s defending champions and current tournament leaders CSKA Moscow – 12:31. In the fight for 3rd place, the Krasnodar team confidently faced Vityaz Perm 29:0. In the final, CSKA defeated VVA-Podmoskovye with the score of 34:12.
In the general classification, Kuban moved up to 3rd place (60 points). Ahead of CSKA (80) and VVA-Podmoskovye (72). Krasnoyarsk “Yenisei-STM”, which took only 5th place in Sochi, fell to 4th (58).
Until the end of the championship, it is planned to organize 3 additional rounds.
