The icon of the Savior not made by hands, copies of which Vladimir Putin presented to the Russian military in the zone of a special military operation, was purchased from a private collection in the United States of America. This was stated by the press secretary of the President of the Russian Federation Dmitry Peskov.
“The icon, the lists (copies. – Editor’s note) with which the President presented the military personnel of the Kherson region and the Lugansk People’s Republic were previously purchased from a private collection in the United States”, reports TASS.
The Kremlin representative noted that copies will remain in the Kherson region and in the LPR, and the Russian leader will transfer the original icon to the main temple of the Armed Forces of the Russian Federation.
Earlier, Dmitry Peskov said that the President of Russia visited the headquarters of the Dnepr group of troops in the direction of Kherson, where he presented the army with a copy of the icon of the Savior not made by the hands. Its owner was Piotr Vannovsky, Minister of War of the Russian Empire (1881-1898). The press secretary also said that Emperor Alexander III handed over the icon to Vannovsky.
