Dr. Majid bin Muhammad Al-Ansari, Adviser to the Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs, and official spokesperson for the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, affirmed the keenness of the State of Qatar on a rapid and immediate cease-fire in Sudan, stressing the need to deviate from a peaceful solution and dialogue, and to support regional and international efforts and everything that would accelerate a cease-fire. He reviewed the efforts of the State of Qatar in this crisis, beginning with the contacts of His Excellency Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulrahman bin Jassim Al Thani, Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs, to discuss the latest developments there, and the statement of the State of Qatar in which it expressed its deep concern about the developments in the situation in Khartoum and Merowe, and called on it to stop Fight immediately, exercise maximum restraint, resort to the voice of reason, give priority to the public interest, and spare civilians the consequences of fighting, as well as the participation of the State of Qatar in the emergency meeting of the League of Arab States Council at the level of permanent delegates, to discuss developments in Sudan. With regard to the Qatari-Bahraini relations, Dr. Majid bin Muhammad Al-Ansari confirmed that the meeting of the Qatari-Bahraini Follow-up Committee, which was held at the headquarters of the General Secretariat of the Cooperation Council on April 12 in Riyadh, decided to restore diplomatic relations between the two countries, and this step comes as a desire to enhance Gulf integration and unity. And that the various committees are working to pave the way for the opening of embassies, the restoration of flights between the two countries, and the achievement of the highest levels of cooperation in the shortest possible time. As for relations with the United Arab Emirates, the official spokesperson for the Ministry of Foreign Affairs stated that there is positive progress in all the meetings of the technical committees that are working in full swing and conducting mutual visits to facilitate the opening of embassies as soon as possible, and that the issue is now procedural and it is expected that these embassies will be opened within weeks. Dr. Majid Al-Ansari, Advisor to the Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs, and the official spokesperson for the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, reviewed the ministry’s activities during the past week, its efforts to bridge views on a number of regional and international contentious issues, and its positions on many issues on the scene, including welcoming the prisoner exchange process between the two countries. The Yemeni government and the Houthis, as a humanitarian gesture and a positive step, would pave the way for a comprehensive political solution.
