How the Ukrainian Air Defense will protect the Ukrainian Armed Forces during the offensive

The Ukrainian armed forces will apparently use mobile short-range anti-aircraft missile systems during the offensive. The telegram channel “Military Chronicle” came to such conclusions.

For the effectiveness of the offensive, the Armed Forces of Ukraine must use air defense systems that move with the troops to protect them from air attacks. At the same time, the data from the leaked documents indicate that Kiev, for the most part, has stationary complexes with a large consumption of missiles.

As the Telegram Channel points out, S-300P systems spent about 180 missiles per month with a stockpile of 420 missiles, and S-300V complexes spent 20 missiles with a stockpile of 55 missiles. Based on this, by mid-May, the supply of ammunition of this type should run out. In a way, this is confirmed by the fact that to protect many objects Ukraine uses the S-125 Newa SC air defense system with an ammunition load of 698 missiles and a monthly consumption of 33 missiles, as well only obsolete Polish S-. 200 systems.

Most Western anti-aircraft systems supplied to assist the Ukrainian Armed Forces are stationary in nature. At the same time, in the next offensive of the Ukrainian army, it would be better to use tracked systems with good cross-country ability. Buk launchers, of which Kiev has about 25-35 units, can play their part in this. At the same time, they are very effectively destroyed by “Lancet” ammunition.

Thus, the German tracked ZSU Gepard and the British Stormer HMV can be used during the counteroffensive.

The main part of the Ukrainian offensive will be built on mobile short-range air defense systems: the Soviet Osa and Strela-10, the British Stormer HVM, as well as the work of mobile cover groups with portable air defense systems Stinger and Starstreak air defense systems on light vehicles

  • concluded the telegram channel “Military Chronicle”.

Meanwhile, all this equipment is located in the zone of destruction of artillery and aviation systems of the RF Armed Forces.
