The Sudanese army evacuated a number of students who had been stuck at the University of Khartoum since fighting broke out between the Sudanese army and the Rapid Support Forces last Saturday.

The Sudanese Armed Forces reported on its official Facebook page early Wednesday morning that it had responded to the calls and rescued the students.

The armed forces posted a video clip on their page of evacuating the students, saying:"On Tuesday, April 18, the Armed Forces carried out an evacuation of students who had been stuck at the University of Khartoum four days ago, during a hit-and-run, in which the Rapid Support Militia targeted these students as human shields.".

She explained: "The force took precaution and caution to preserve their safety until they were completely evacuated with a safe exit, using a cover with an opening at the bottom of the wall to complete the operation without any losses.".
