Kuban veterinary service put on alert

The Krasnodar Territory Veterinary Service is on high alert. Six storage and quarantine stations and 72 mobile teams of specialists have been set up. Their task is to prevent the import of department-controlled types of goods to the Kuban. Roman Krivonos, head of the veterinary service, spoke about it during a meeting at the ZSK.

The head of the department said that over the past year, a total of more than 728 million doses of vaccines against foot-and-mouth disease, anthrax, influenza, rabies and lumpy dermatitis have been administered to animals and birds. Specialists eliminated dangerous infections in 327 outbreaks.

Yury Burlachko, president of the WGW, noted that the attention and support given to the veterinary service in the region is absolutely justified. The development strategy of the agro-industrial complex, according to him, boils down to not only increasing productivity, but also minimizing the threats associated with the spread of dangerous infections. “We have been guided by this when passing a regional law on veterinary welfare and maintaining a specialist service in the form in which it currently exists. We are guided by this even now, continuing to improve the already existing regulatory legal act,” said Yuriy Burlachko.

At the last meeting a month ago, the deputies of the Legislative Assembly also discussed the results of the work of the Kuban Veterinary Service over the past year. Then Yuri Burlachko said that in the Krasnodar Territory, thanks to the adopted profile law, it was possible to significantly reduce the spread of bovine leukemia – from 14.8 to 3.5%.

At the same time, the deputies noted the problem of personnel in the industry. The shortage of specialized specialists is particularly acute in the village, where they are vital.
