St. Petersburg boarding school will be checked after reports of child deaths

Lvova-Belova promised a check to the St. Petersburg PNI after reports of child deaths

Maria Lvova-Belova, Commissioner for Children’s Rights to the President of the Russian Federation, has announced her intention to conduct an audit of the psycho-neurological boarding school No. 10 in St. Petersburg.

Earlier, a representative of the Moscow Health Ministry, Nyuta Federmesser, issued a statement in which she said that seven students had died “recently” at this establishment, with the last death recorded on April 17. Federmesser also said the children were malnourished and the boarding school was understaffed and volunteers were not allowed.

“We have sent requests to the relevant authorities,” Lvova-Belova said, “an inspection will be carried out.”
