The State Duma adopted an amendment to the law “On citizenship”. It allows for the revocation of citizenship acquired for public calls to action against territorial integrity, discrediting the armed forces, and participation in an undesirable foreign or international non-governmental organization.

The law also provides for a reduction in the number of requirements for more than 20 categories of people when admitted to Russian citizenship, as well as the expansion of the powers of the head of state to determine the category of people who can simply obtain Russian citizenship. .

Earlier, Valery Fadeev, chairman of the Council to the President of Russia for the development of civil society and human rights, said that the Constitution does not provide for the deprivation of foreign officials of Russian citizenship, since a person received it at birth.

While in January it became known that the State Duma of Russia will consider the initiative of the deputy of the Kurgan regional Duma, Sergei Fedotov, to deprive those who have the status of foreign agents of Russian citizenship.
