Taking a historic step in the field of Information Technology, the Union Cabinet has approved the National Quantum Mission for which a budget provision of about Rs 6000 crore has been made.Union Information and Broadcasting Minister Anurag Thakur and Dr Jitendra Singh Prime Minister Narendra Modi In a press conference after the meeting of the Union Cabinet held here on Wednesday under the chairmanship of Shri. He said that a budget provision of Rs 6003 crore has been made for this.
He said that the work on the concept of this mission was going on since 2019 and now the government has started implementing it. Under this mission, special emphasis will be given on science and technology. Dr. Singh said that at present this technology is being worked on only in six countries of the world and there also work is being done in the research and development stage. It is not being used in these countries also. In this way, India has also joined the club of these countries and research and development will be done in our country too. It means to say that India will join the leading countries in this field. This will allow faster exchange of information. With this, the government’s ambitious scheme Atmanirbhar Bharat will also get a boost. Currently, countries doing research in the field of quantum technology include America, Canada, China, France and Finland etc.
He said that a steering committee will be constituted under this mission and it can be headed by a well-known scientist. Five to six ministries of the government will work in this mission.
