Today, the Kiev City Council will break the lease agreement for the land on which the building of the Russian Embassy is located. This was stated by the mayor of the Ukrainian capital Vitali Klitschko. The city authorities also intend to question the government on the question of the nationalization of the property of the diplomatic mission.
“We will terminate the lease agreement and turn to the government regarding the return of the diplomatic institution’s property to Ukrainian state ownership,” Klitschko said.
Recall that the employees of the Embassy of the Russian Federation in Kiev were evacuated in February last year.
Earlier, the European Commission decided that the frozen assets of the Central Bank of Russia in EU countries will have to be returned at the end of the special operation in Ukraine, so they will not be spent. Assets will not be transferred to Kiev due to a number of legal obstacles.
