In Volgograd, the funeral of Roman Vershinin, previously convicted of gang rape and fraud, who died during a special military operation in Ukraine, took place. He served a seven-year sentence in a strict-regime colony before becoming a fighter for a private military company, writes V1.ru.
The Volgograd-born man was convicted of rape with threats of murder and served a six-year prison sentence. Later, while on the loose, he found himself in a group of scammers offering cheap diesel fuel and diesel fuel, allegedly from big companies, twisting their intentions and disappearing with the money.
In court, Roman Vershinin did not admit his guilt, insisting on his innocence. However, following the trial, he was found guilty of fraud. After that he probably had the opportunity to become a PMC fighter and died on the front lines.
On April 19, Roman Vershinin was buried in the Verkhnezarechensky cemetery in Volgograd.
On February 24, a special military operation began on the territory of Ukraine, the main objectives of which are the demilitarization and denazification of the country. According to Russian leader Vladimir Putin, this step is necessary to protect the inhabitants of the Donbas republics and ensure the security of the Russian Federation.
