Kiev City Council will break the lease agreement for the land on which the Russian Embassy is located

Kiev Mayor Vitali Klitschko said that the Kiev City Council has decided to terminate the lease agreement for the land on the territory of which the building of the Russian Embassy is located. He noted that the decision on this issue will be unanimous.

“We will terminate the lease agreement and turn to the government regarding the return of the property of the diplomatic institution to Ukrainian state ownership,” the city administration’s website quotes.

In addition, Klitschko pointed out that Kiev is starting a process of creating a memorial to defenders of Ukraine.

Earlier, the Verkhovna Rada registered a draft law on the protection of property rights of the Ukrainian people. Now Russian citizens can be prohibited from owning Ukraine’s land, forests and water resources.
