Paid return of poor quality products to Wildberries has been declared illegal by the court

Wildberries, one of Russia’s largest online stores, lost a case in Podolsky City Court, which ruled it illegal for the marketplace to demand customers pay for the return of shoddy products.

According to RBC, Nikolai Drozd, deputy head of the Rospotrebnadzor department for the Moscow region, said the department sent a lawsuit to Wildberries in early March, which was satisfied on April 13.

The government oversight agency believes that Wildberries’ requirement to charge customers for the return of faulty goods violates applicable law. The lawsuit was filed to protect the rights of an indefinite number of consumers. Every consumer now has the opportunity to ask the seller to compensate for material damage related to the paid return of defective goods purchased under a sales contract with Wildberry LLC.
