Chinese mobile device maker Tecno has started Russian market pre-installation for VK’s RuStore apps, Tecno told Kommersant. A company representative said that RuStore does not have access to default system settings.

The first time you install an app from RuStore, the Android system will ask permission to download and install apps from this source. Tecno also added that other international mobile device manufacturers such as Xiaomi and Vivo have started pre-installing RuStore on their devices.

According to the software developers, in addition to Tecno, RuStore has started installing brands like Xiaomi, Vivo, Realme, Infinix, and Itel on their devices. Officially, some models are already on sale in Russia.

In January 2022, the Russian government included RuStore in the list of programs required for pre-installation on phones sold in Russia. In March, the Ministry of Digital Development drew up a draft resolution outlining the rules for its pre-installation: RuStore should be integrated into the system to the same extent as ordinary app stores – up to the registration screen in RuStore when the device is turned on for the first time. on. VK did not specify which models of RuStore devices are preinstalled. Oppo, Honor, Infinix, itel and Xiaomi declined to comment on this information.

We previously reported that the Department of Digital Development is considering expanding the requirements put forward by smartphone manufacturers. The agency plans to force companies to install Russian digital distribution store RuStore on Android devices.
