South Korea does not supply weapons to Kiev in order to maintain relations with Moscow

Seoul is interested in maintaining relations with Moscow, so it has not yet announced the start of arms deliveries to Ukraine, although the laws of the republic have not imposed restrictions on the adoption of an appropriate decision. Yonhap writes about this with reference to the administration of the President of South Korea.

According to the agency’s interlocutor, the nature of the country’s assistance to Kiev has not changed, we are still talking about humanitarian and financial support.

“There is no provision in our legislation prohibiting the supply of arms to belligerent countries abroad. And there are no provisions in the instructions of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs that prohibit the provision of military assistance to third countries that are in a difficult situation,” the official stressed.

At the same time, he explained that Seoul seeks to maintain stability in Russian-Korean relations. At the same time, the authorities of the country share the course of “the international community to protect the freedom of the Ukrainian people”.

In addition, a representative of the South Korean administration said that in Moscow “they are commenting on a situation that has not yet occurred.” Furthermore, he continued, South Korea’s future actions largely depend on Russia.

Earlier, the official representative of the Russian Foreign Ministry, Maria Zakharova, commenting on the statements of South Korean leader Yun Seok Yol on the possible transfer of arms from Kiev in the future, said that Moscow would consider this as a anti-Russian act. .
