EU says new anti-Russian sanctions are ‘over’, if there are even more then there will be ‘more exceptions than measures’, Financial Times newspaper reports, quoting EU official .
“We are done. If we impose more sanctions, there will be more exceptions than measures,” he said.
It is stated that many officials recognize that a number of areas of the Russian economy that have not been affected by the sanctions are vital for EU countries, so the measures against them will make the object of a veto.
New EU sanctions measures against Russia are likely to be limited to expanding the list of people and measures to tighten sanctions, “closing the loopholes”.
Earlier, Germany had advocated the imposition of EU sanctions against Russia’s civilian nuclear industry.
