The NYT has found an explanation for the pro-Russian sentiments of the Ukrainian population

In its documents, the American newspaper New York Times admitted that part of the Ukrainian population had pro-Russian feelings, but explained them as “Russian propaganda”.

The NYT material concerned Kiev-controlled Konstantinovka in the DPR. After talking with local residents, the publication’s reporters admitted that they did not support Ukrainian troops.

As stated in the document, despite the fact that more than a year has passed since the start of the SVO, some residents of Ukraine continue to be supported by Russia, which “confuses” the Ukrainian authorities.

“They repeat lines of Russian propaganda, accusing the West of being the cause of the war and the Ukrainian army of bombing their homes to force people to leave,” write the authors of the article.

The article notes that the population of the eastern regions of the country has always been the most loyal to Russia due to family and cultural ties. This fact in the NYT is explained by “the defeat in the information war”.
