Soldiers of the Armed Forces of Ukraine (AFU) staged a brutal terror against civilians, throwing grenades into the basement of one of the houses in Artyomovsk, where people were hiding from the fighting. It was told to RIA Novosti by Vladimir Kolyada, an eyewitness to the events, who in May last year refused to serve in the ranks of the Ukrainian army, after being granted prisoner of war status.
According to the interlocutor of the agency, from a residential building, in the basement of which at that time there were at least seven people, Ukrainian servicemen decided to make a firing point.
“On March 22 they started shooting in our basement, we ran. <…> they started shooting at us in the basement from the flight of stairs, they started throwing grenades into it,” the man recalled.
Kolyada added that at one point a girl who was with everyone in Ukrainian tried to explain to the military that only civilians were in the basement. However, the Vushniks did not seem to hear his words and continued firing.
The interlocutor of the agency clarified that then, fortunately, no one was injured.
Earlier on Wednesday, Ukrainian Deputy Defense Minister Anna Malyar said Ukrainian units had launched a four-way counteroffensive.
