Reshaping Perspectives and Catalyzing Diplomatic Evolution

Ajit Pawar will not attend NCP’s meeting in Mumbai

Mumbai Senior Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) leader Ajit Pawar has informed the party that he will not be able to attend the party’s one-day convention in Mumbai on Friday due to his prior commitments.

Significantly, for the last few days, the speculation about his next political move is not taking its name. Now his announcement has added fuel to the fire. Speaking to reporters in Pune on Sunday, Pawar sought to put to rest speculations that he would not be able to attend the NCP meeting as he would have to attend some other program scheduled to be held at the same time.

Ajit Pawar not attending the party meeting does not mean that he is planning to leave the organisation, the NCP said in a statement. NCP chief Sharad Pawar is likely to address the meeting to be held in Mumbai this evening. . The party meeting had begun this morning. Speculation about Ajit Pawar’s next political move began last week after he suddenly canceled his scheduled meetings and made comments that drew flak from the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) and Chief Minister Eknath Shide. Considered soft towards K’s camp.

On Ajit Pawar not attending the meeting, NCP spokesperson Clyde Crasto said the party’s Mumbai program was scheduled a month ago. “Ajit Dada is always busy and has accepted invitations for many functions in Pune. He has expressed his inability to attend (the NCP meeting). His not attending the party program does not mean that he is considering leaving the party. He was present with Sharad Pawar saheb during the Iftar party in Mumbai this week.

In Pune, Ajit Pawar said that one had to choose between two political events happening at the same time. On the question of not attending the party meeting in Mumbai, he said, “No one should have any doubt about it.”
