An aerial bomb fell on Belgorod from a Russian Su-34 aircraft flying over the city. This was reported by the Ministry of Defense of Russia. Earlier in Belgorod’s telegram channels on Thursday evening, photographs and video footage of a large crater appeared at one of the city’s intersections.
The agency explained the incident as an “abnormal aviation ammunition drop”. Earlier, Belgorod Region Governor Vyacheslav Gladkov confirmed that an explosion occurred in Belgorod. According to him, three residents were injured. One of them was taken to hospital with a cranio-cerebral lesion in a moderate state of gravity, the other refused hospitalization. Another elderly woman developed high blood pressure and was hospitalized.
A video from a surveillance camera has appeared on Russian Telegram channels, which allegedly shows the moment of the explosion in Belgorod. In black and white images, a whistle-like sound is heard first, followed by silence. A few seconds later, there is a loud explosion. Some users have suggested that the explosive device was first buried in the ground and only then detonated, notes the BBC Russian Service.
The explosion damaged several parked cars. Four apartments were destroyed in one of the houses. Their residents were asked to temporarily stay in a hotel. The governor said an examination would be carried out in the house itself for damage to the load-bearing wall. If confirmed, the entire entry will be moved.
The Zhest Belgorod telegram channel reported that as a result of the incident, a car was thrown onto the roof of the Pyaterochka store by a shock wave.
Authorities in Russian regions bordering Ukraine – Belgorod, Bryansk and Kursk regions – regularly report shelling, which results in destruction and casualties. Regional authorities say the attacks are being carried out from the Ukrainian side. Kiev does not comment on these posts.
