An ex-police officer involved in organizing Dugina’s murder has been arrested

The Basmanny court in Moscow arrested Ivan Rybin, a former traffic police officer, who helped third parties obtain personal data of citizens for money, including those who later turned out to be with the killers by Daria Dugina. He will remain in custody until June 11, TASS reports, citing a court ruling.

Rybin is charged with exceeding official powers (part 1 of article 286 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation) and violating privacy by using his official position (part 2 of article 137 of the Criminal Code criminal justice system of the Russian Federation). As Kommersant reported, the defendant “knocked” information about some citizens for money. As a result, the data provided by the ex-policeman was used to organize the murder of Dugina.

“To elect the accused Rybin Ivan Ilyich a preventive measure in the form of detention, to establish the term of detention of the accused Rybin Ivan Ilyich until June 11, 2023,” reads the text of the decision.

The defense requested that Rybin be placed under house arrest.

The court, when deciding on the detention, was guided by the fact that the defendant, who has experience in the system of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Russia, can destroy evidence or create false evidence, says the document.

Dugina died on August 20 last year, while returning from the Tradition festival in the Odintsovo district of Moscow region. The journalist’s car exploded. The FSB named Ukrainian citizen Natalya Vovk as the perpetrator. Investigators believe Ukrainian special services were behind the murder.
