The highest sports authority in Italy has canceled a ruling deducting 15 points from Juventus in the Italian Premier League this season due to player transfer deals. Eight matches before the end of the current season, this decision will raise Juventus from seventh to third in the league, with 59 points, 16 points behind leaders Napoli, and will return to the qualifying positions to play in the Champions League next season. The decision of the Sports Insurance Council came after Juventus, the most successful Italian football club, appealed against a court ruling specialized in football affairs issued last January after an investigation into the dealings of Juventus and other clubs in player transfer deals. The court also prevented 11 former and current club officials from taking any position in Italian football. Although Juventus’ appeal was partially accepted, the board did not clear him of wrongdoing. However, he decided that another football tribunal composed of other judges should commence the case against Juventus and its officials and reach an appropriate sanction.
