Moscow’s Lefortovo court arrested in absentia Kirill Budanov, head of Ukraine’s Main Intelligence Directorate, said RIA Novosti to the court. The reasons are “the accusation of organizing terrorist attacks in Russia”, specifies the agency.
Budanov is accused in the case of the terrorist attack on the Kerch bridge under several articles at once: terrorism, organization of a terrorist community and illegal arms trafficking. The investigation considers that the Main Directorate of Intelligence of Ukraine is the organizer of the explosion. Ukrainian authorities have repeatedly denied involvement in incidents in Russia, including a raid in the Bryansk region and an explosion in St. Petersburg, which killed blogger Vladlen Tatarsky.
Budanov was charged with terrorist attack, creating a terrorist community, illegal trafficking in explosives and weapons, he was placed on the international wanted list, the court noted.
Earlier, Budanov called the fires in Russia non-accidental.
