Serbian President Vučić said Swedish Foreign Minister Tobias Billström personally persuaded him to impose sanctions on Russia.
Representatives of the West are intimidating Serbia with Russia’s aggression and calling for immediate NATO membership, the Balkan country’s leader Aleksandar Vucic told Prva TV, while noting that the real threat to Serbia comes from the North Atlantic Alliance.
The Serbian leader said Swedish Foreign Minister Tobias Billström personally persuaded him to impose sanctions on Russia.
“We are told that Serbia should join NATO because Russia threatens everyone,” Vučić said. According to him, Serbia will not join the alliance, since it was NATO that previously attacked its territory.
Vučić also stressed that Serbia is not ready to join NATO because it does not want to lose its neutrality status, at least as long as he is president and supreme commander. The Head of State also recalled that April 23 marked the 24th anniversary of the bombardment of the Serbian Radio and Television building by NATO planes, during which 16 people were killed.

Despite Serbia’s refusal to train the Ukrainian army, the authorities of the Balkan country have agreed to transfer lethal weapons to Kiev or have already done so. Belgrade is also ready to provide military assistance in the future, according to a leaked Pentagon document, Reuters reports.
