Poland and the Baltic countries have challenged the European Union and asked for Gazprombank to be disconnected from the international SWIFT system. This is reported by the publication EuObserver.

The request is explained by the fact that the role of the financial institution in the establishment scheme in the embezzlement of public funds is high and that the Kremlin uses it to advance its political interests.

“The disconnection of Gazprombank from SWIFT is a priority and is of symbolic importance,” the publication reports, citing the text of the joint sanctions proposals against Russia.

Earlier it became known that Cypriot banks will close the accounts of Russians who do not live on the island in two months. The money of 4,000 customers will be blocked, according to Phileleftheros.
