The State of Qatar participates in the ministerial meeting on the situation in Sudan

The State of Qatar participated in the special and emergency ministerial meeting on the situation in Sudan, which was organized today by the African Union Commission, via visual communication technology. The State of Qatar was represented at the meeting by His Excellency Dr. Mohammed bin Abdulaziz bin Saleh Al-Khulaifi, Minister of State at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. In a speech to the meeting, His Excellency said that the State of Qatar deeply regrets the situation in the Republic of Sudan and its brotherly people, and is following with concern the current developments. He renewed the State of Qatar’s call to all parties for a quick and immediate ceasefire, and to stop the escalation that is causing irreparable losses to the brotherly Sudanese people. HE the Minister of State at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs affirmed the State of Qatar’s keenness to support all international efforts, including those of the African Union Commission during today’s meeting, and everything that would accelerate the ceasefire process and resolve the crisis in Sudan. His Excellency stressed that the current crisis is Sudanese-Sudanese and its solution in a sustainable manner will only be with Sudanese will "We will continue to support the efforts of the international community by providing aid and proposing appropriate diplomatic solutions". At the end of his speech, the Minister of State at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs reaffirmed Qatar’s firm position on the unity of Sudan and its support for its brotherly people, and called on the parties to exercise maximum restraint, resort to the voice of reason, give priority to the public interest, and spare civilians the consequences of fighting. He also renewed the appreciation of the State of Qatar for the efforts of the African Union Commission aimed at resolving the crisis.
