The United States will transfer 31 Abrams tanks to Germany in late May to train about 250 Ukrainian military forces, and the training will take about 10 weeks, reports the Associated Press.
“31 tanks will arrive at the Grafenwehr training ground in Germany at the end of May, and in a few weeks the army will begin preparations. Officials say that the training of troops will last about 10 weeks … According to officials, about 250 Ukrainian soldiers will be trained,” the document said.
It is specified that the Ukrainian military will be trained in the control of tanks, as well as their repair and maintenance.
The tanks themselves will not be sent to Ukraine for use against Russia. For these purposes, America is modernizing 31 M1A1 battle tanks, which will be transferred as soon as they are ready.
The day before, the German government announced the arrival of the Patriot air defense system with missiles in Ukraine.
