The Foreign Policy publication reported a downside in Ukraine’s use of Leopard tanks. The material indicates that the use of different shells in such equipment will inevitably lead to difficulties when buying ammunition in bulk.
Earlier, Pentagon chief Lloyd Austin announced the intention of nine Western countries to transfer more than 150 German-made Leopard tanks to Ukraine. However, according to the magazine’s report, tanks supplied by different countries use different cartridges, which will make it difficult to purchase certain ammunition.
“Leopard tanks, which come from eight different countries, fire different shells, which means Ukrainians cannot buy ammunition…in bulk,” the magazine said.

Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov said any shipment containing weapons for the Ukrainian armed forces would become a legitimate target for Russia. The diplomats also noted that the regular and constant supply of arms to Ukraine by NATO countries is pure “game with fire”.
