Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov said the Russian side ‘will not forget, will not forgive’ the US refusal to issue visas to Russian journalists who were supposed to accompany him on a trip to New York to attend at meetings of the UN Security Council.
“The country that calls itself the strongest, the smartest, the freest, the fairest, got cold feet, did something stupid and showed what its assurances on the protection of freedom of expression,” the Russian foreign minister said.
Earlier, the official representative of the Russian Foreign Ministry, Maria Zakharova, said that the American side refused to issue visas to journalists from the Russian Federation. According to her, the US Embassy in Russia is working to resolve this situation.
Recall that the meeting of the UN Security Council will be held on April 25.
