Make our population a resource instead of a burden

According to UN forecast, India has now overtaken China to become the most populous country in the world. Some media regarded this as a milestone in the decline of China’s human resources. However, the greatest experience of China’s reform and opening-up policy is that it combined labor resources with economic factors such as capital, technology and markets, thus creating China’s economic miracle. In order to make effective use of the huge population resources, it is very necessary to adopt favorable domestic and foreign policies. China has long been the most populous country in the world. However, sometimes a large population does not become the driving force of economic growth. Instead, it becomes a huge burden due to food, education, medical care. In the late 1970s, China embarked on reform and opening up. At that time, the Chinese government effectively combined the country’s rich human resources with foreign capital, technology, management experience and international markets, thus creating a great momentum for economic development and the population becoming a real resource. At the same time, China has always maintained political stability, and each government has promoted reforms in a relay manner. The correct path of reform and opening up has made China’s economy a leap forward. Now China has developed into the world’s second largest economy, the largest trading country and industrial manufacturing country, and a variety of high-tech exporters. Facts have proved that population can be both a driving force and a burden for economic development. Is. Efforts should be made to train talent and formulate the right internal and external policies for economic development. Another development experience of China is the vigorous investment in education. About 900 million of China’s current population of 1.4 billion are of working age, with an average of 10.9 years of education and 14 years for new workers. Only education can transform the population into the talent needed for economic growth. Due to the development of modern industry, the demand for the quality of workers has increased rapidly. For example, with the help of ChatGPT, a task that used to require dozens of people to work for several days can be completed by just one person in a day. This increase in production efficiency will completely change the way workers work. The requirements for talents in the future will be completely different. With the changing conditions of the world, different meanings have been given to population growth, and the solution to the problems of population depends only on the development of scientific and technological productivity. For example, at present, well-known international companies such as Google, Baidu, and Alibaba are making great efforts to develop artificial intelligence. In the near future, new technologies and new formats such as automated driving, automated production, and even home care robots will enter our lives. More human resource with high technical capabilities will be required in future. This requires various countries to vigorously promote education and scientific development, and invest more resources in the cultivation of new talents, so that population growth becomes a driving force for economic development rather than a burden. At present, China’s high-quality China has entered the development stage, and the Chinese government regards technological innovation as the key to future development. To achieve industrial upgrading, China will move to the higher end of the production and supply chains. Looking at China’s “demographic dividend” from this point of view, not only quantity but also quality is required. China adds more than 15 million new labor force every year, trains about 4 million engineering graduates every year, and more than 240 million people are pursuing higher education. The average number of years of education for new workers has reached 14 years. All these have laid a solid foundation for China’s future development.(Credits- China Media Group, Beijing)
