The Russian Embassy accepted about 140 evacuation requests from Sudan. This was reported to RIA Novosti by Russian Ambassador to Khartoum Andrey Chernovol. According to the diplomat, the total list, which includes Russian citizens and diplomats, is about 300 people.
The list of those who want to leave the country is growing not at the expense of Russians, but at the expense of citizens of the CIS and some other countries, Chernovol said. He added that it is still difficult to organize an evacuation, but plans are being drawn up. Now, even leaving the embassy means crossing the line of fire, and even with security guarantees from both sides in conflict, it is risky.
Since April 15, an armed clash has been taking place in Sudan between the country’s army and the Rapid Reaction Forces (RRF). As reported, the Sudanese army is conducting a sweep of the RRF capital. Meanwhile, the country’s armed forces agreed to a three-day truce on the occasion of the Islamic holiday for breaking the fast, Eid al-Fitr (Eid al-Fitr).
Earlier, a resident of Sudan, Raisa Omer, told Zvezda about the situation in the country. A bullet flew into his apartment. It was also reported that Russian citizens were stranded in the Nubian Metropolis building in Khartoum.
