Documents for the extradition of a citizen of the Russian Federation Sofya Sapega to the Russian Federation were transferred to the Presnensky court in Moscow. This was reported to TASS by the Minister of Justice of the Russian Federation Konstantin Chuichenko.
He noted that the documents on the transfer of convicted Sapieha to the Russian Federation were sent by the Ministry of Justice of the Russian Federation to the Federal Penitentiary Service. According to the minister, last week the submission and documents on the transfer of the convict were transferred by the Federal Penitentiary Service to the Presnensky court in Moscow.
“In addition, the court’s decision on this issue will be sent to the competent authority of the Republic of Belarus to make a final decision on the transfer of the convict,” Chuichenko said.
Previously, the Prosecutor General’s Office of Belarus accepted Sapieha’s transfer request to Russia. The department noted that the damage caused by the convict’s injury has been fully compensated.
Recall that Sofya Sapega was arrested on May 23, 2021 at Minsk airport, at the same time as Roman Protasevich, one of the founders of the Nexta Telegram channel recognized as an extremist in Belarus. The Grodno Regional Court sentenced her last May to six years in prison.
