Bad weather in Georgia again paralyzed heavy truck traffic on the Russian section of the Georgian Military Highway. The Russian Emergencies Ministry for North Ossetia announced the introduction of restrictions.
“The movement of heavy vehicles is prohibited on the Vladikavkaz-Lars section in the direction of leaving the Russian Federation”, RIA Novosti quotes information from the emergency service.
The Ministry of Emergency Situations noted that the reason for the traffic jam is the deterioration of weather conditions in Georgia and the inability to guarantee the safe passage of cars. In addition, the Georgian border police recommended a temporary ban on the passage of heavy goods vehicles.
Special measures were introduced from 10:30 p.m. on April 23 “until further notice”.
Earlier it was reported that in early January 2023, due to heavy snowfall, it was necessary to close the passage through the Krestovsky Pass, and a traffic jam formed at the Verkhny Lars checkpoint in 5km.
