New Delhi: Corps commanders of the armies of the two countries met on Sunday to resolve the military standoff with China along the Line of Actual Control in eastern Ladakh for the last three years, in which both agreed to resolve the remaining contentious issues at an early date through talks. A statement issued after the talks said that military commanders of both sides held detailed talks on Sunday in the Chushul Moldo sector of the China border to resolve issues related to areas along the Line of Actual Control in the western sector. He believed that the resolution of these issues would create an atmosphere of peace and friendship in the border areas, which would lead to progress in bilateral relations.
The military commanders had a frank exchange of views taking into account the basis and guidance of the foreign ministers’ talks in March last. Both sides agreed to maintain security and stability on the ground in the western sector. They also agreed to continue negotiations through military and diplomatic channels for an early and mutually acceptable solution to the outstanding issues.
