Three of the six residents of the psycho-neurological boarding school (PNI) No. 10 in St. Petersburg died from cerebral edema and lack of body weight. This was reported to RIA Novosti in reference to a police source.
“Three of the wards were found to have cerebral edema in the causes of death, general lack of body weight was indicated, two also had progressive respiratory failure and one of the reasons was multiple organ failure. So, in the actions of Internet employees, investigators saw signs of a crime under part 3 of article 109 (causing death by negligence) of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation,” said the source told the agency.
According to the agency’s interlocutor, all the victims had the status of orphans, and when they reached the age of 18, they were transferred to the PNI. Orphanage employees delivered the orphans to Alexander Hospital, where they died.
A criminal case for negligently causing death after the deaths of six adult PNI residents in St. Petersburg since 2022 was opened by the Investigative Committee last week.
