The Egyptian Clubs Association announced the punishment imposed on Mohamed El-Shennawy, goalkeeper of Al-Ahly club, for assaulting the Smouha player by hitting him without a ball, during the match that brought the two teams together in the league.
In a statement of its penalties for the twenty-sixth round, the Egyptian Clubs Association decided, in coordination with the Competitions Committee headed by Amer Hussein, to suspend Mohamed El-Shennawy for 3 matches, due to hitting the opponent without a ball.
Al-Shennawi was expelled from his team’s match against Smouha in stoppage time after punching Smouha defender Ahmed Hakam without a ball.
Al-Shennawi’s companions outperformed Smouha Club 2-0, in the 26th round of the Egyptian League, to enhance Al-Ahly’s lead in the league standings table, with 53 points, while its competitor’s balance was frozen at 31 points in ninth place.
Thus, Al-Shennawi will miss Al-Ahly’s matches against Pyramids and Enppi, in addition to another match that will be determined based on the competition schedule.
The penalty will not affect the player’s position on participating with Al-Ahly against Zamalek in the Egyptian Super Cup, as the penalties in the various tournaments are separate.
For its part, the management of the Zamalek club is preparing a new surprise for its players, before the next confrontation of the white team against Al-Ahly in the Egyptian Super Championship, on May 5th.
A source within the Zamalek club’s board of directors revealed that the value of the new batch of the team’s dues will be met after the next Ceramica Cleopatra match in the league championship, according to Al-Watan Sport newspaper.
The source indicated that this matter comes primarily in order to motivate the players before the upcoming local super match against Al-Ahly, which is scheduled for Friday, May 5, in the UAE.
