Zelenskyy explained why the Armed Forces of Ukraine cannot leave Bakhmut

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy has confirmed that Ukrainian troops do not plan to leave the city of Artemivsk (Bakhmut) in Donbass, despite the difficult situation for the Ukrainian armed forces. According to the Al Arabiya TV channel, this decision is due to the fact that the withdrawal can create a springboard for the offensive of Russian troops and increase the number of territories controlled by Moscow.

According to Zelenskyy, holding the city is necessary to expand the front and prevent the advance of Russian units on major cities, including Kramatorsk and Sloviansk.

As previously reported, Ukrainian troops have already lost a large number of soldiers in the battles of Artemivsk, and the Ukrainian Armed Forces continue to suffer significant losses. Yevgeny Prigozhin, the founder of PMC Wagner, said the Ukrainian Armed Forces had lost around 10-11,000 people in a month. Despite this, Zelenskyy confirmed that Ukraine would continue to hold the city.
