On April 24, Chang Chun, the Chinese representative to the United Nations, appealed to various countries to implement true multilateralism by giving a speech in the open debate on the UN Charter and multilateralism in the Security Council. Speaking on the occasion, Chang Chun said that the human community is facing unprecedented global challenges. Hegemonic action is causing great harm to the world and factional politics is fueling great division and competition. Protecting the UN Charter is delicate and important. The most important thing at present is that various countries implement true multilateralism and strengthen unity under the UN flag, improve global governance, and build a common future by achieving common security and development.
He presented four suggestions, which include protecting the prestige of the UN Charter, protecting the international order based on international law, equal participation of various countries in international affairs, and opposing unilateral sanctions against international law. He said that China will stick to true multilateralism. China has one of the best records in adhering to the UN Charter, international law and the basic parameters of international relations.
