White House officials believe the issue of additional support for Ukraine will hinge on the success of its counteroffensive, according to the Wall Street Journal. According to her, otherwise Washington will “respond” to the demands of ordinary Americans and stop supporting Kiev.

Ukraine’s success in the upcoming spring offensive will be critical to Washington’s continued support for military aid, according to U.S. lawmakers and Western officials.

Republican Senator Ted Cruz said in a comment to the publication that “the patience of the American people is not unlimited.” The carte blanche given to Ukraine will not last forever, he added.

The publication cited the results of a public opinion poll, according to which 38% of American voters believe that the United States provides “too much help” to Kiev.

Earlier, military analyst Alexander Mikhailov said the United States and Europe were pressing Ukraine to launch a counter-offensive, as their citizens began to ask questions about the adequacy of financial and military aid in Kiev. He noted that Ukraine’s armed forces are in no rush to go on the offensive, but the collective West really needs it, especially the United States, as Washington needs to keep European leaders in check.
