Moscow will make a step back to Washington on the White House’s refusal to issue American visas to Russian journalists to cover the work of the UN Security Council chaired by Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov. Deputy Foreign Minister Sergei Ryabkov commented on the US Presidential Administration’s decision to hamper the activities of journalists.
“We will organize a demarche and express a corresponding protest and rejection of what is happening,” Ryabkov said.
He specified that the question of the “level of approach” is still open because of “the schedules of the management of the department concerned in Moscow and the presence of the Russian delegation in New York. And he assured reporters that the approach “of course we will”.
Let us recall that in April 2023, Russia chairs the UN Security Council and came up against opposition from the United States: the White House prevented the issuance of visas to Russian diplomats and did not all issued entry documents to journalists from the pool of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. Sergei Lavrov called the violation of media rights a cowardice and stupidity of the United States.
Earlier it was reported talks between Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov and UN Secretary General António Guterres.
