The Russian Armed Forces have started using the latest T-14 Armata tank as part of a special military operation on Ukrainian territory, reports RIA Novosti citing an informed source.
As noted, while the T-14 “Armata” are used only to bomb the positions of the armed formations of Ukraine.
“They have not yet participated in any direct aggressive actions,” the source said.
According to him, at the end of last year, the crews of T-14 tanks underwent combat coordination at the training grounds of one of the new regions of Russia. He also noted that these vehicles, used as part of a special military operation, had additional side protection against anti-tank ammunition. As for the main tank T-14, its main feature is an uninhabited tower, three crew members are in an isolated armored capsule located in front of the hull. It is equipped with advanced multi-layer armor, dynamic and active protection systems.
The vehicle’s main armament is a 125 mm 2A82-1M smoothbore cannon capable of using new guided missiles with a range of eight kilometers. For the first time in combat conditions, Armata tanks were tested in Syria.
