Al-Markhiya Gallery is preparing to launch its new huge art exhibition “Art Book” on May 2, at the gallery’s headquarters at the Artists’ Fire Station, with the participation of 33 artists from various creative schools from different parts of the Arab world, including 5 Qatari artists. They will present unique and distinctive experiences that all celebrate the book and shed light on the need for the Arab public to relate to reading in order to advance and keep pace with development.

Anas Qutait, arts coordinator at Al Markhiya Gallery, explained that the expected exhibition includes a large number of distinguished works, where each artist out of 33 participates in two works, indicating that the works all revolve around one topic, which is the importance of the book, pointing out that the exhibition coincides with the announcement of the Ministry of Culture to launch Doha International Book Fair next June, according to what was announced, in addition to the Ministry organizing the Ramadan Book Fair during the past month. Kotait said that what distinguishes “Art Book” is its involvement of artists with a long history in the fields of visual arts, indicating that the exhibition comes within the framework of the spring season, which includes a package of artistic events, as the gallery is keen to continue its activities throughout the year, in light of the cultural and artistic movement that Qatar is witnessing it, stressing that the gallery seeks to strengthen the plastic movement in the country to be a true tributary to the contemporary creative movement in our Arab world, by holding many plastic exhibitions that celebrate the expertise and experiences of Qatari and Arab plastic artists, and he stated that the new exhibition will continue until the end of next June. Art Book presents rich and innovative creative experiences based on a visual language capable of attracting the audience. Despite the unity of its theme, each artist will present his creations through different methods and ideas. The participating artists are: Ali Hassan, Salman Al-Malik, Hassan Al-Mulla, Faraj Daham, Mai Al-Mannai from Qatar, Hassan Meir, Ruqaya Mazar from Oman, Lolwa Al-Hamoud from Saudi Arabia, Thuraya Al-Baqsami from Kuwait, Jamal Abdul-Rahim from Bahrain, Najat Makki from the Emirates, Hakim Aqel from Yemen, Ali Al-Tajer, Falah Al-Saeedi, Hemat Muhammad Ali from Iraq , Nizar Sabour, Youssef Abd Laki from Syria, Charles Khoury, Issa Halloum from Lebanon, Hilda Hiari, Jihad Al-Amiri from Jordan, Khaled Hourani and Nabil Anani from Palestine, Ahmed Refaat Suleiman, Muhammad Abu Al-Naga from Egypt, and Islam Kamel, Salah Al-Murr from Sudan , Mohamed Ben Lamine from Libya, Abdallah Akkar from Tunisia, Hamza Bonoh from Algeria, Bashir Amal from Morocco, Zainab Mansour from Mauritania, Abdelaziz Bob Asher from Somalia.
