The competent authorities in Saudi Arabia have thwarted an operation to smuggle nearly 13 million amphetamine pills, hidden in a shipment of pomegranates seized through the port of Jeddah.

The Saudi Press Agency reported "SPA" On the authority of the official spokesman for the General Directorate for Drug Control, Major Marwan Al-Hazmi, as saying that it was done "Thwarting an attempt to smuggle (12,729,000) tablets of narcotic amphetamine hidden in a shipment of pomegranate fruit through Jeddah Islamic Port".

added "Her recipients were arrested in Jeddah Governorate, and they are 4 people: two residents of Egyptian nationality, and two residents of both Syrian and Yemeni nationalities.".

And official media reported pictures and video clips showing dozens of cans intended for transporting pomegranates filled with transparent bags containing large numbers of narcotic pills, and pictures of a masked Saudi security officer carrying a rifle, along with four detainees who were handcuffed and in front of him a large amount of pills piled on the ground.

The country of origin of the seized pills was not revealed, and whether these pills were the drug Captagon, which is a type of amphetamine.
