New Delhi. Senior Congress leader Ajay Maken has claimed that around Rs 45 crore was spent on the ‘beautification’ of Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal’s official residence when Delhiites were struggling to get oxygen cylinders during the Covid pandemic. Had spent crores of rupees on the decoration of his bungalow.
He alleged that at the time of entering electoral politics, Kejriwal had promised to live in a small house, but now the same Kejriwal is spending Rs 45 crore in a government bungalow. Former union minister Maken tweeted, “Despite naming his party Aam Aadmi Party and making all the promises, Kejriwal spent such a huge amount on the decoration of his bungalow at a time when the people of Delhi were worried about oxygen cylinders.”
He said, six lakh families live in slums in Delhi. The question arises whether Kejriwal has the right to continue in his post as a public servant? On the other hand, senior Aam Aadmi Party leader Raghav Chadha has said that the Chief Minister’s residence was built 75-80 years ago in 1942. He said that the Public Works Department (PWD) of the Delhi government had recommended its renovation after an audit.
A senior PWD official said, “It was not a renovation and a new structure has been built in place of the old one. There is also his camp office there. The expenditure is around Rs 44 crores, but the point to be noted is that the old structure has been replaced with the new one.
