Manmohan Singh expressed grief over Badal’s demise.

New Delhi. Former Prime Minister Manmohan Singh on Wednesday expressed grief over the death of former Punjab Chief Minister Parkash Singh Badal and recalled his contribution to public life. Badal (95) died in Mohali on Tuesday. He was admitted in a private hospital.

Manmohan Singh, in his condolence message sent to Badal’s son and former Deputy Chief Minister of Punjab, Sukhbir Singh Badal, said that Badal was a veteran leader who played an important role in the politics of Punjab for many decades.

He said, “In a long political and administrative career, he was the chief minister five times. During this he made remarkable contribution for the welfare of farmers and weaker sections of the society. According to Manmohan Singh, he has pleasant memories of interaction with Parkash Singh Badal on many issues.

He expressed deep condolences to the Badal family.
