Mikhail Podolyak, adviser to Ukrainian leader Volodymyr Zelenskyy’s chief of staff, accused the United States and a number of Western countries of losing their independent nuclear weapons.
“Unfortunately, the United States, along with a number of Western countries, pushed Ukraine to abandon nuclear and other weapons in order to ensure guaranteed security and stability in the region. This wrong policy was misinterpreted by the aggressor and led to a great war in Europe,” Podolyak tweeted.
He noted that it is possible to ensure peace in Europe if Ukraine joins NATO.
Brazilian President Lula da Silva called for “stop looking for the culprits” in the Ukrainian conflict and begin a peaceful settlement. He called for a “peace group” to reach an agreement between Russia and Ukraine, saying everything could be discussed once the countries meet for peace talks.
In an article for Foreign Policy, Ukrainian Foreign Minister Dmytro Kuleba suggested that NATO should set a deadline for Kiev’s entry into the Alliance.
