Chhattisgarh: After the death of 11 including 10 jawans in a Naxalite blast, all the districts of Bastar are on alert.

Dantewada. An alert has been issued in all the seven districts of Bastar division of the state following the incident of death of 11 people, including 10 security personnel, in a landmine blast in Naxal-affected Dantewada district of Chhattisgarh on Wednesday. Police officials gave this information on Thursday. Police officials said the security forces have been told to be alert while using vehicles and look for landmines planted by Maoists.

Inspector General of Police, Bastar region, Sundarraj P said that in view of the attack in Dantewada, a high alert has been issued to the Superintendents of Police (SP) of all the districts of the region. Bastar division comprises the districts of Kanker, Kondagaon, Narayanpur, Bastar, Dantewada, Sukma and Bijapur. During the summer months from March to the middle of June, Naxalites run Tactical Counter Offensive Campaign (TCOC) and try to carry out major incidents.

In the past also there have been several attacks on security forces during this period. The police officer said that the security forces have been asked to remain vigilant during this period and intensify anti-Naxal operations. He told that tribute will be paid to the martyred soldiers at 11 am in the police line of Dantewada. During this, Chief Minister Bhupesh Baghel will be present. After paying homage to the martyred soldiers, their mortal remains will be sent to their respective places of residence.

In Aranpur police station area of ​​Dantewada district, Naxalites blew up a vehicle involved in the convoy of security forces on Wednesday afternoon. 10 policemen and a driver were killed in this incident. Police officials said the jawans killed in the attack were members of the District Reserve Guard (an anti-Naxal unit of the state police).

Eight of the martyred jawans were residents of Dantewada district, while one each from neighboring Sukma and Bijapur districts. He told that some of the martyred soldiers had joined the security forces after leaving Naxalism. Most of the youth of Bastar region have been recruited in DRG. This team is considered expert in fighting Naxalites. Some Naxalites who surrendered are also included in this team.
