Oazu Nantoi, an MP from Moldova’s ruling Action and Solidarity (PSD) party, said Chisinau should introduce a visa regime with Russia. In an interview with TVR Moldova, he explained this step as a national security requirement.
“For seven years, the number of Moldovan citizens in Russia has increased fourfold and, I think, our fellow citizens who continue to be on the territory of the Russian Federation have had the opportunity to make a choice. And I do not exclude that in order to ensure national security, the time has come to think about the introduction of a visa regime by Russia, â€emphasized the deputy.
Nantoi is one of three Moldovan politicians banned from entering Russia amid a diplomatic row.
Earlier, Moldovan President Maia Sandu said that in her opinion, Russia will try to destabilize the situation in the country, as she does not want to allow its transformation. However, this is what the local authorities want, she added. So, on April 26, Sandu commented on the scandal with the expulsion of diplomats from Moldova and Russia.
