The Qatari world champion, Nasser bin Saleh Al-Attiyah, accompanied by his navigator Matthew Baumel, managed to get second place, after covering the stage distance of 286 km, recording a time of (1 hour, 31 minutes and 13 seconds), while the French driver Sebastien Loeb and his Belgian navigator Fabien Lorquin succeeded. Whoever snatched the first place, recording a time of (1 hour, 28 minutes and 28 seconds) and a difference of (2 minutes and 45 seconds), and the Brazilian racer Marcus Baumgart and his navigator Clipper Sencia came in third place, recording a time of (1 hour, 31 minutes and 41 seconds), and he leads the general standings after The second stage was the French competitor Sebastien Loeb, recording a time of (3 hours, 3 minutes and 16 seconds) and a score of (109) points, and the champion Nasser Al-Attiyah came second, recording a time of (3 hours, 3 minutes and 19 seconds) and a score of (94) points, then he finished third. The French contestant, Guerlain Checheret, recorded a time of (3 hours, 8 minutes and 13 seconds).
For his part, Qatari world champion Nasser bin Saleh Al-Attiyah expressed his complete satisfaction with what he presented in the Mexican Sonora Rally, stressing at the same time that the competition is strong and that the struggle for the title will not be easy, but difficult, and that the tracks in the rally, which was added for the first time to the World Rally Championship, are difficult. It requires a lot of concentration and strong navigation. The hero, Nasser Al-Attiyah, added: " We have a specific plan, strategy and method that we use at every stage, and we hope to achieve the title that brings us closer to obtaining the preservation of the new championship (W2RC).
He continued: " Today’s stage is difficult, as the total competition is 466 km, and the special stage is 350 km, and we hope, with the help of God, to overcome it and win it so that we can get closer to the title.".
