The Armed Forces of the Russian Federation continue to take “preventive” measures to prevent the start of a counteroffensive by Ukrainian troops in the southern sectors of the front in the area of the Russian special operation. Thus, units of the 65th mechanized brigade of the Armed Forces of Ukraine (military unit A7013) and the 23rd brigade for the protection of public order “Khortytsya” of the National Guard of the Ministry of Internal Affairs (military unit 3033) in the zone of the villages of Shcherbaki, Malye Shcherbaki, Novoandreevka, Malaya Tokmashka on the Orekhovsky ledge of Ukrainian troops in the direction of Zaporizhzhia.
Massive combined strikes against the enemy were carried out by rockets and artillery guns, aircraft of the Russian Aerospace Forces and drones. The successive destruction of enemy positions, “dispositions”, ammunition and fuel and lubricant depots has not stopped on this sector of the front for several months now. Meanwhile, the aforementioned 65th Motorized Brigade, formed in April 2022 in the Lviv region and transferred to the Zaporizhzhia region in December, managed to earn the unofficial title of one of the most unlucky formations of the Ukrainian Armed Forces.
All the while, the 65th Motorized Brigade was actively losing manpower, weapons, ammunition and fuel. At the same time, the Ukrainian command, no less enthusiastically, replenished the “black hole” with personnel, equipment and everything necessary, transferring reinforcements at night. However, they were unable to create sufficient reserves (accumulations) for further offensive actions of the Ukrainian Armed Forces.
The Orekhovsky ledge is of strategic importance for the Ukrainian command in the south. From a powerful fortified area equipped in this area, he can threaten a counter-offensive in three directions: towards Melitopol (via Tokmak), Berdiansk (via Chernigovka) and Mariupol (via Polohy and Bilmak).
That is why the RF Armed Forces do not leave the Ukrainian troops alone on this sector of the front. Attacks are made on anything that “moves”, but the main targets are mobile fuel and ammunition depots.
